Aiming to participate in the global value chain with international auto brands manufactured in Vietnam, THACO AUTO has cooperated with global major automakers to research, design, and manufacture international brand buses for the domestic market and export markets in ASEAN.

In Dec. 2017, THACO AUTO and DAIMLER BUS signed a contract for the technology transfer and distribution of FUSO buses and trucks (under DAIMLER) in Vietnam – the first milestone of cooperation.

Since 2018, THACO AUTO and DAIMLER BUS have continued to cooperate in the Mercedes-Benz development in Vietnam and aim to export to regional countries. Accordingly, R&D center has researched, designed, and developed bus models on Mercedes-Benz chassis suitable for terrain conditions and transport infrastructure in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. THACO AUTO has also invested in upgrading production lines at THACO BUS plant towards automation and digital management, ensuring technical requirements, manufacturing process, and European quality standards of Mercedes-Benz buses.

The Mercedes-Benz bus features European-style exterior design with its large grille and illuminated logo, and modern lighting system creating its luxury. The frame and chassis are designed as monocoque to reduce their weight and increase rigidity.

The interior is designed with simplicity in mind, featuring a multi-directional lighting system with adjustable intensity to create a spacious and dynamic atmosphere. The driver’s compartment includes a 4-way adjustable steering wheel and the control system is oriented towards the drivers for ease to use and to keep their concentration. The passenger seats are designed to be compatible with the anthropometry of East Asian people, using leather materials that are suitable for the climate and weather in Vietnam, and equipped with amenities such as phone chargers, USB ports, headphone jacks, storage compartments, etc.

The Mercedes-Benz bus is equipped with an OM457LA engine, delivering 430 horsepower and a torque of 2100 Nm/rpm, supporting acceleration and uphill driving. In addition, it utilizes PLD fuel injection technology to increase power, reduce consumption, and Bluetec5 exhaust treatment technology following Euro V standards to reduce emissions and be environmentally friendly. The GO 210 transmission is specialized for buses, incorporating a pneumatic power-assisted gear-shifting. The bus is equipped with a 4-shock absorber system for the front axle suspension, and a shock absorber for the steering system, providing a comfortable and stable driving experience on all types of roads.

Moreover, Mercedes-Benz bus is also equipped with safety features: traction control system, cruise control system, Voith hydraulic brake, and electronic brake (ABS, EBS).

THACO – Mercedes Benz bus is available in several versions: 47 seats, 24 VIP seats, 34 sleeper seats, and 22 VIP sleeper seats, distributed through the nationwide Truck and Bus Centers network, which combines showrooms, service, and spare parts shops providing professional and convenient after-sales services to customers.
In addition, the product is also researched, designed, and manufactured by THACO AUTO according to individual customer requirements.
